11 bit studios S.A., based in Warsaw, is a developer of multiplatform games sold worldwide. The company operates on an independent model, handling every stage of game development in-house – from production to marketing to distribution in digital shops.
In 2010, 11 bit studios S.A. released the first game in the ‘Anomaly’ series, which quickly became tower offense productions that counted worldwide. The next big step was ‘This War of Mine’, released in autumn 2014 after two years of hard work. The game was a great success. Its production costs were already paid off in the first weekend after its release. ‘TWoM’ occupied the top spots on the bestseller list of Steam and other digital distribution platforms for a number of weeks. In April 2018, ‘Frostpunk’ premiered. The title also proved to be a huge success. The outlay to create the game paid for itself after just 66 hours of release.
Titles developed by 11 bit studios S.A. are brilliantly received by both gamers and the global gaming press, which has resulted in the receipt of a sizeable number of awards, including: Apple Design Award, Best of PAX, Independent Games Festival Audience Award, SXSW Matthew Crump Cultural Innovation Award, as well as Games4Change Best Gameplay and People’s Choice Award.
In addition to producing games, the Company, as part of its 11 bit publishing initiative, also publishes games from third-party indie developers. In May 2018, the Company released the game ‘Moonlighter’, which was developed by the Spanish studio Digital Sun. In autumn 2019, ‘Children of Morta’ by US studio Dead Mage was released.
